Lead generation services

rogerd_40rogerd_40 San Francisco, CA

I'd like to get feedback from anyone that has utilized services that generate new clients. I'd like to hear the good and the bad.

There are a few discussions about this in the archives already. For example:

Within those discussions, people have brought up other services, too.

As a general rule, I think it's hard to generalize. Lead gen can work, but it varies from one practice area and jurisdiction to another depending on the strength of the service in that specific area. It can also depend a lot on what you do with the lead after you get it. Lots of lawyers aren't well set up to convert leads to clients, and that can lead to a false impression that something "isn't working."

So before you try one, make sure you have a responsive intake process. Then, spend a few hundred (or thousand, depending on the service and your budget) to see if it works. It doesn't hurt (much) to try.

  • While I have not been on the receiving end of these leads, I know that it does work for plenty of others. As stated by Sam, if you are not setup to handle follow ups and other basic marketing tasks, you may end up very frustrated.
