Practice Panther

I saw that Practice Panther has made themselves free until the end of the year and I got a trial account today to start looking around at the features. It seems like a pretty slick and easy to use interface. It's got some nice features but is missing a lot of integrations with outside software I'd normally look for. Then again, it's half the price of Clio per user per month.

I've been surprised how little information I can find out there about it, I guess it's a relatively new player in the space. Has anyone here used Practice Panther before? Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about it?

I met the founder at ABA TECHSHOW, but we haven't taken the time to put it through its paces. There are a lot of new players right now, since Rocket Matter, Clio, and MyCase cleared the way. It's become a challenge to keep track of all of them and figure out which are likely to last.

  • I have been playing around with it for two or three days now. The interface is certainly slick and easy to use, I haven't really had to glance at the help more than once or twice. It doesn't appear to have a mobile app though, which is almost enough for me to rule it out on that grounds alone. Would certainly like more integrations too....

Yeah, I mean … Five years ago if you wanted modern practice management software you had to put up with the fact that you might have to wait a couple of years to get an app. Now that there are pretty full-featured options out there with apps and integrations and all, it's harder to be patient.

  • So I reached out to Practice Panther, and their official company line is that the mobile version of the website is fully responsive and mobile optimized. And they feel this allows them to provide more features and robustness than an app, and it means they don't have to push updates to the app on a weeks/months long-turn around time because mobile users always automatically get the latest version of the website.

I don't really know how I feel about that. I've scheduled a demo with some of their sales-people though to try and put it through its paces

Ugh. I get that they have to say that, but if they don't have a mobile app on their roadmap that would be a dealbreaker for me.

Hey Jamie, thanks for reaching out to us. Having a mobile app has been one of the most requested features from our users and today I have some great news to share. We recently published mobile apps for both android and iPhone this week so you can now manage your entire practice on the go with ease. You can check out our new iPhone app by clicking here: apple.co/1l2Xjfz and the android version here: bit.ly/1Mk9Zbp.

We are always updating our app with new and exciting features so we encourage all of our users to follow our progress and even submit a feature they would like to see in our software by going directly to our site at practicepanther.com/updates/.

  • Yeah, I recently was contacted and had a demo from one of the Account Managers detailing some of the updated features. I will admit for the sake of informing others who might be following the thread, most of the things that Practice Panther was way behind on, they're catching up on. I've been impressed with some of the new changes, and hopefully now that there's an official API they'll be more third-party support.

I don't think for our workflow we could feel comfortable committing until Xero integration was added and there was generally a bit more full-featured (or third party) attention to accounting/intake. But we're not opening until next year and Practice Panther's recent updates did shoot them up a few places in our unofficial rankings.

  • Hi Jamie,

It's been a while and hope all is well! Thank you for the compliments, we've certainly moved fast over the last year. We now have over 35 built-in reports with full trust & operating accounting ledgers. We have a QuickBooks online integration, with Xero coming soon. You can also create unlimited intake forms all for the same affordable price. You can learn more about our features and schedule another demo to see the updates from our homepage at https://practicepanther.com, hope to see you soon!
