If I have Amicus Attorney, do I need Worldox?

    Short answer - no. Getting WD would likely get you even more embedded with the Amicus platform and i'm adamantly against anything that does that. IMO, you need to figure out how to get away from the Amicus reliance to something more modern and less clunky. The longer you're with it, the more daunting the task of switching will be, unless your ok paying a consultant $5K-$10K to transfer your file info.

    Our firm has had the Amicus Attorney 2014/Worldox GX3/PCLaw combination for 15+ years and the integrations are horrendous compared to newer SaaS and even on-premise options. By legacy software standards, Worldox GX3 functions well with Amicus. However, we spend tons of time fixing integration issues or inconsistencies between the programs. For example, if my assistant opens a file in Amicus and makes a typo in the file name, there is no 2-way sync between Amicus and WD where she can correct it in Amicus and it gets corrected in WD or vice versa. Instead you have to manually go into the WD look-up tables and correct it there, throw PCLaw integration into the mix and you can see how little issues can become major time killers. Not sure if the integrations are any different with GX4, but I don't believe they are. Worldox is a very powerful program, however, unless you have the time and know-how to get it configured correctly or are willing to pay someone to do it for you, you'll never utilize it to its fullest potential. Lack of mobile access with WD is a major issue as well. For something comparable in the cloud setting you'd have to go to Netdocuments. I'm optimistic that we'll be moving on from these legacy systems in the next year or so.

  • We avoided the data transfer by keeping a terminal that ran an older version of Amicus for all past clients. We then migrated to clio and added clients in as needed. We did have to do two conflict checks (but that took no longer than a couple of minutes total). However, we avoided the $25,000 it was going to cost to migrate the date over.

    @Andrew Bloch We're considering a similar migration to either Clio, Actionstep or Zola Suite and I'd love to know how hard the Clio transition was and your satisfaction level with Clio v. Amicus? Any particular pain points? Did you hire a consultant or handle in-house? How many users? So many questions....
